HaroldFOOTEMr Harold Foote, of Wellfield Care Home, formerly of Elmfield Street, Church, died on Tuesday, June 21, aged 101. As a young man, Harold served in the Tank Regiment Desert Rats, spending time in Egypt, India, North Africa, Italy, and South Africa. For most of his working life he was at Higham’s Mill, Accrington, much of that time spent as a foreman in the dyehouse. Harold was a lifelong member of Ernest Street Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and also played characters in various pantomimes over the years. He was on the Accrington Blind Society committee, and was an honorary member of the Accrington Probus Club. His hobbies included table tennis and snooker, and he loved his family holidays in Llandudno. Harold was the beloved husband of the late Ida. He was the devoted dad of Marilyn, father-in-law of Geoff, precious grandad of Philip, Rachel, and Elizabeth. He was also a great-grandad to Josh, Cody, and Luke. Harold was also a much loved uncle to Derek, Chris, Sandra, and Valerie. The funeral will be held on Monday, July 4, at 10am at Ernest Street Baptist Church, Church, Accrington, led by Rev Ian Ley, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium Chapel at 11am. Family flowers only, with donations if desired to Accrington District Blind Society, or the British Heart Foundation c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
