DorothyFORDpassed away at home on Thursday, January 21, with her family by her side. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. She leaves behind her husband Ray, with whom she shared 64 years together. Dot’s children Peter, Andrew, Anne, her daughter-in-law Alison, her grandsons James and Thomas will all miss her deeply, as will her brother, sister and extended family. Born in Liverpool, she always loved her city, even though her passion for animals led her to move to a more rural Rossendale. Dot devoted her life to supporting and working with vulnerable people. She was an independent thinker and fought fearlessly for equality for all. Her dry sense of humour will be missed by friends and colleagues. Dot also loved live music, joining family and friends at festivals and gigs. Dot will be most remembered for her love of a proper cup of coffee and listening to BBC Radio 4’s ‘Just a minute’. The funeral service and celebration of Dot’s life will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, February 12 at 11am. Due to the current situation, the service will be available online by request. Family flowers only please with donations, if desired, to Rossendale Hospice, New Cribden House, Rossendale PHCC, 161 Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, BB4 7PL or c/o funeral director Caroline Holden-Dewhurst for Johnson Durning and Woods Funeral Service, Haslingden.
