Bunny (Uncle Brian),
Thank you for being such a wonderful, funny, and caring uncle. I cherish so many great memories with you, especially those involving racing, sharing a pint, and chatting about life.
One of my fondest memories is our 1989 family trip to the Arc De Triomphe, which coincided with your birthday. Sleeping in a minibus under the Eiffel Tower and you telling us to back Carroll House, who duly won, was unforgettable.
I also remember the mighty Docksider, one of your favourite horses, winning at Newmarket. Celebrating with cold champagne and warm cheese sandwiches was priceless. You never told me how much you won that day, but the joy on your face was worth more than any amount. From that day on, any success at the races was coined as having a “Docksider day.”
Saturday nights at the Boot were always a blast, especially when we continued the party at home. Cary and I would play the keyboard badly, changing the words to “Cat Amongst the Pigeons” by Bros, with you as our enthusiastic backing singer.
Boxing Day was another favourite, with endless party poppers covering the pub and the occasional go on the fruit machines between pints.
Thank you for all the wonderful memories, Uncle Brian. You truly made life more joyful and fun.
With love, Julian
Julian Purr
