Trevor FRANCIS Trevor Francis, famed as Britain's first £1million player, has died aged 69. He represented Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Rangers, QPR and Sheffield Wednesday during his playing career.

The ex-Birmingham City striker played 52 times for his country between 1977 and 1986. Legendary Nottingham Forest boss Brian Clough made Francis Britain's first £1million player in 1979, and he would help Forest to back-to-back European Cups, a feat never since matched by an English side, including scoring the winner in the first final against Malmo.

Trevor was born in Plymouth and married his partner Helen in 1974. They had two children together. Helen Francis sadly passed away in 2017.

Our thoughts are with Trevor's family, friends and fans. We invite you to share your memories and pay tribute to Trevor below.

Thank you for the privilege we had of watching your magical football skills. We were in awe of you, not only as a one in a million footballer but also as a remarkable and humble Gentleman. We could never repay the exceptional kindness shown to our family , both by yourself and your compassionate late wife Helen. These qualities made you an Idol and an Icon in the truest sense of the words, respected and admired above all, by three generations of the Mortiboys family.
