Mike was a close family friend who later also became a neighbour, a lovely, kind man who will be sadly missed.

Hi Chloe,
I am Paul Deackes I’m not on Facebook so messaging through Suzanne my wife’s account. I first met your Dad in 2004 working in Iraq. I was only 20 very much naive, silly and didn’t really understand the environment and surroundings. Mike was a true legend, providing advice and guidance. We shared the same accommodation lots of times. Making me listen to Hull FC if they played. Enjoying a few or more beers again looking after me.

We then went to Afghanistan together, the pressure of work was more. But your Dad always kept his cool but was passionate about getting the job done. Strong minded but the team he created was amazing.

In 2011 I got married, your Mum and Dad came to our wedding. Your parents didn’t know anyone but made me prouder they came.

Your Dad spoke about you and your mum. I haven’t seen him since the wedding. I can’t imagine what your have been and going through.
The word legend isn’t one I give lightly. He was a true legend, the one true person i have ever looked up to. He took so many of us under his wing.
One day I would like to speak with you or your mum?

Love Paul and Suzanne Deackes

To Franksey and family

I am so sorry to hear that very sad news of a very good mate which goes back to school days 🙄. We had some great times together, on holiday, nights in Tiffs watching City and having a beer or 2 on our travels. Our lives / travels took different paths over the years but you were always a great friend whenever our paths crossed. One day we will meet again , sorry I didn’t see you recently RIP

My deepest sympathies to you all
