Italia - Bracciano city near Rome - Many years ago... "Freddie Mack", an American boxer, a family friend, an extraordinary man, a wonderful memory!

Ciao Freddie

I was priviledged to meet Freddie Mack (Mr Superbad) a good few years ago when he was resident DJ in Blantyre Vic's social club via Radio Clyde. He became a good friend to our family and we have many happy memories of this time.I was saddened to hear of his death and unfortunately did not manage to get to his celebration of life (funeral ) my sisters were there and told me how beautiful it was.
For his family...i'm sure you will continue to celebrate his life and take comfort in the memories he has given you all
take care
Lorraine xx

I was in Freddie's band from 1966 to 1967 and travelled with him around Britain, Ireland, and with one totally wild gig in Paris. It's not often that one can say that someone was one of the most genuine and decent humans beings that you could ever meet, but I can with him. He paid well, he treated you well, and when we got into some scrapes, he looked after you.

On the other hand, when he was angry he could be frightening as I discovered with some of the others when we'd infringed his 'no dope' policy on the way back from Paris. Yet he never once showed any violent side. Even my mother - who had never met a huge, black American in her life - thought he was wonderful. He even kissed her hand!

It was a privilege knowing Freddie, and I'm sure that many other people would say the same.
