IsobelFREEARPeacefully with her husband Horace by her side on Friday, August 20 at Wellfield Care Home, Accrington, aged 98. Isobel was born in Accrington and was a lifelong resident of the town, who loved to be active and to spend time with her family. She was a supportive and devoted wife of Horace, a dearly loved mother to her sons David and Steven, a cherished grandmother to Paul and Rachel, and a loving great-grandmother to Isaac, Ellie and Dylan in New Zealand. Isobel began her working life at Broadoak Printers as a secretary before opening her own confectionery shop in Ormerod Street. She also worked in the market hall selling sweets, and as a secretary at Robinsons Electrics before retiring. In her retirement she became a volunteer manager at the Accrington Cancer Research shop, and always supported Horace with his voluntary work at the Accrington and District Blind Society. Also in retirement, many years were spent taking holidays abroad, where both Isobel and Horace enjoyed relaxing, walking, dancing and swimming, living life to the full. We celebrate a long, fulfilling, happy life and the family would like to thank Nesta and the wonderful staff at Wellfield for looking after Isobel in such a loving and caring way right up to the end. A celebration of Isobel’s life will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, September 3 at 11.40am. Family flowers only please, but donations in Isobel’s memory can be made to the Accrington and District Blind Society. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
