So sad to hear of the passing of Helene. I would see you many mornings as I walked the dogs -still driving your car at 94! Always cheerful with a merry quip. Obviously had a long and interesting life and will be very sadly missed. RIP

A truly beautiful soul who will continue to live on through the many people she taught.
I fondly remember her when I teach my students their times tables and feel she is a big part of the teacher I became.

My first and favourite teacher so fondly thought of. It was wonderful to get to know you again some 50 years later. Helene, you were an absolute inspiration, kind, welcoming, full of fun and interesting chat. I never grew tired of listening to you. Sleep well.

I’m 58 years old and live in Australia. Mrs. Peters was my teacher for two years at Hayes Road school. What a lovely soul she was. We were so excited on our birthdays to receive the special red lipstick kisses.

Children would line up outside her class in the morning if they had a wobbly tooth. she would use a tissue to gently tug on that tooth and if it came out would wrap it carefully and hand it back to the child with a smartie .
She taught us the alphabet and once we learned that she made us learn it backwards. She was always so happy and caring and kind.

My condolences to the family
Kindest regards, Karen Smith (Lane)

Lipstick on our cheeks that we were not allowed to rub off on our birthdays!
Remembering the day her husband died so many years ago.
Remembering all the smiles and patience.
My very first teacher at Hayes Road and later, one of my customers for many years on my fish round.
Got me into trouble once as she gave me a valentine’s ballon, my girlfriend didn’t believe me when I told her who it was from!

Always remembered 🙏🏻
