DennisGETHIN"Surrounded by love, warmth and kindness, Dennis, former President of the Welsh Rugby Union, died in Ty Gwynno Care Home, Pontypridd on Wednesday 25th October 2023. Despite his illness Dennis remained a true gentleman to the end. Thanks to the exceptional staff at Ty Gwynno, his passing was peaceful and dignified as befits a wonderful man. His funeral will be held on Thursday 30th November at 11am at Thornhill Crematorium, Wenallt Chapel, Cardiff, followed by a reception for his many friends in the President's Lounge at Principality Stadium, Cardiff at 1.30pm to share memories and celebrate a life well lived. A proud Welshman, Dennis loved colour so something red for Wales please and club ties, not black. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu to the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust in support of severely injured rugby players. Details from Morgan Vowles Funeral Directors, 154-155 Trehafod Road, Trehafod, Pontypridd CF37 2LL. Telephone 01443 683101 email info@morganvowles.com"

What a funeral for one of life's greats! Sad that it had to happen but nevertheless a funeral to which many aspire but very few achieve.

Dennis had the lovely characteristic of always appearing slightly bemused with life and almost always being about to laugh. We spent many hours enjoying his company in many places around the world. Rest in peace old friend

Dennis was a star - I can see him cringing at the very thought! Humility was his trademark. To y crwt o Gwm Dulais, o deulu o lowyr, a Cambridge man, rubbing shoulders with royalty came easy as they were no different from his neighbours and friends in his beloved Seven Sisters. The proudest of Welshmen, he relished every opportunity to converse in his mother’s tongue. A lovely, lovely man.
Cwsg mewn hedd.
