EileenGODDARDMrs Eileen Goddard, of Lowergate Road, Huncoat, Accrington, died peacefully in Willowbank Nursing Home, Burnley, on Friday, April 29, aged 87, three days before her birthday. Born in Waterfoot, Rossendale, Eileen worked for several different companies in Rossendale and Accrington, mostly in the areas of wages and salaries administration. As a young woman, Eileen trained as a singer, and sang with the Rossendale Ladies Choir at festivals and church events. She later took part in local amateur operatic shows. Before coming to Accrington, Eileen was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and her present religious associations were with Cannon Street Baptist and Trinity Community Church. She was a member of the Ladies’ Circle and Tangent Club, and former committee member of the local branch of the Children’s Research Fund. She is survived by her husband John, children Susan, Ian, Christopher, and Alison, eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. A service will be held at Trinity Community Church, Christ Church Street, at 11.15am on Monday, May 16, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 12.20pm, conducted by Revd. Paul McNally. Family flowers only; donations if desired may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
