It was 1962 when we first met. You were into wild life in a big way and I remember swapping an elephant hawk moth larva, a real biggun, for a toad you had.

You were into moths at that time.

Biology turned to chemistry and home made fireworks and canon were then the flavour of the month.

This turned into electronics and radio became the fashion.

By this time we were old enough to drink and then look what happened!

Goodbye Spyke you will be sadly missed.

So sorry to hear this sad news, I am not alone in saying you were the best Chemistry teacher we had at AW, we loved your jokes and your willingness to let us experiment (even if we had to evacuate the lab every now and again!). Rest In Peace Sir, you are and always will bea Legend!

Shocked to see the notice in the Post tonight. Memories of the HNC Chemistry course at the old NRCT and the night you asked to be let out of the Phys Chem lecture early so that you could visit your Grandma in hospital. Come 7pm you walked out, complete with Forest scarf and rattle, "come-on-you-reds!" echoing down the corridor, whilst the rest of us returned to our books. RIP & cheers!

Well, a complete shock to hear that you have passed. I have nothing but great memories of you from school. Your old MZ 125 that you rode every day, the Shipstones T shirt you wore for non-uniform day that only just (being polite) covered your "ample and paid for" tummy, when you took to the stage as Meatloaf complete with the afore mentioned MZ! Remember when the tarantula escaped and it made the news? Honestly a brilliant teacher and all round excellent man who will be well missed by very many people. Have a pint with my dad.
