Hazel was a superb member of the education volunteer team at Cragside (National Trust) for over 15 years. She had the ability to engage and enthuse with all the children who came to visit the house, but will always be remembered for her role as Mrs Ford, the Housekeeper in our Living History Days, where she ruled the roost with a twinkle in her eyes.
Very fondly remembered
Pam Dryden, former Education Officer, Cragside

I was at College in Yorkshire with Hazel 60 years ago and we have remained in touch ever since. She was a talented musician and a lovely person and her influence will continue to live on with her many students and friends.

I taught with Hazel at Seghill School for many years and later after retirement we kept in touch with regular meetings of the ‘Seghill girls’ reunion. I shall miss her very much she was a loyal and good friend

On behalf of Newcastle Choral Society, I can say we are truly devastated at Hazel's death. She was a fabulous choir colleague, the star of the Alto section, and a friend to so many over her 24 years as a member. She was an accomplished deputy Conductor and accompanist when needed and calmed the nerves of many a member awaiting their Voice checks! I have no doubt she will still be on hand when our own time comes...
