JimmyGREAVESdead: Tottenham and England legend passes away aged 81.
Tottenham Hotspur's record goalscorer Jimmy Greaves has passed away at the age of 81.

The striker - who helped England win the World Cup in 1966 - scored 266 goals for Spurs and 44 goals for the Three Lions during a glittering career.

Greaves won two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup, while also represented Chelsea, AC Milan and West Ham United, among other clubs.

He is survived by wife Irene, four children, 10 grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

"We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of the great Jimmy Greaves," wrote Spurs' official Twitter account. "We extend our deepest sympathies to Jimmy's family and friends at this sad time. Rest in peace, Jimmy."

I would like to pass my condolences on to the family and friends of Jimmy Greaves, my one football hero. He gave me positive, unforgettable memories from watching him play for Tottenham Hotspur on the East Terrace of White Hart Lane throughout the 1960s.

Jimmy Greaves was my football hero, although i was a Coventry kid i saw him play many many times at White Hart Lane and all over. The photo i took of Jimmy at White Hart Lane from the crowd, playing Wolves i think. The photo was framed and given to him by Tony Ward (referee) Malcolm Ellis (82)
