HeatherGREENMrs Heather Green, aged 77, of Reedsholme, passed away at East Lancashire Hospice on Saturday, April, 22 following a short illness. Heather was born in Sheffield and attended King Ecgberts Technical School before teacher training college in Manchester. Heather first taught at Brightside Infants in Sheffield during the early 1970’s before working in several different schools in Cardiff and Chesterfield. Her last school before retirement was St. Marys, Rawtenstall where she helped with special needs pupils and was always remembered for helping lots of children learn to read. Heather was a lifelong active member of the Methodist Church attending churches in Sheffield, Gwent and Chesterfield before settling at Longholme Methodist Church in 1984. She enjoyed helping at lots of Church activities including being a leader of the toddler’s club for over 30 years. Heather had many friends from her membership of Inner Wheel, and the Lace Making Circle, more recently enjoying keep fit classes at the Village Centre in Crawshawbooth. Married to Leonard for 48 years, they were a devoted couple and much loved parents and grandparents. Heather leaves behind sons Jonathan and Nick, daughters-in-law Tara and Clare, and her precious grandsons Matthew, Christopher, Oliver, Samuel, Isaac, and William. She was also sister of her cherished brother John as well as auntie of Carol, Linda and the late Paul. The funeral will be held on May 11. The cortège will leave Fred Hamers Chapel of Rest at 10.15am for a private cremation followed by a service of Celebration at Longholme Methodist Churchbeginning at 12.00pm.
