My sister and I both remember clearly the day our little brother, Neil, was born. We are now finding it so hard to believe and accept that he is no longer here with us but take some comfort from the many happy memories we have of him, and of how he so often used to make us laugh.
This year especially, whilst we were dealing with the illnesses and ultimately the death of our father, Neil was always a calm and reliable presence who never failed to step up whenever he was needed.
We shall miss him greatly.

I was so sad to hear about the passing of Uncle Neil, who never showed me anything but kindness. One of my earliest memories is of him helping me to build a Mecchano set I got for Christmas in the function room of my Nanny’s pub in Abergavenny. I also remember as a teenager visiting Uncle Neil in Swansea, turning up to find him listening to a Led Zeppelin record and thinking he was so cool. Then when I was in my 20s and struggling a bit with my career, he went out of his way to help me by setting me up with some useful contacts. Later on after my children were born, (Great) Uncle Neil would usually be the first to respond to pictures and videos of them with kind words and funny comments. I will definitely miss his dry sense of humour. He truly was a gentle giant and a lovely man.

My earliest memory of my Uncle Neil was asking to be carried on his shoulders. Of course he always obliged because that's what he was like, and it was like being perched on a giant. Throughout childhood, I remember Neil being a quiet, humorous presence - always with a kind, supportive word, or a wry comment. As a teenager, I appreciated how he never spoke down to my brother and me; he was always genuinely interested in us as people. He was a wonderful father; it was clear to everyone that he was devoted to his children and my heart aches for them to have lost their dad. Our family will remember him dearly and I will be telling my daughter all about her Great Uncle Neil.
