JohnGUTHRIEPassed away peacefully after a short illness on 31st March 2021 aged 96 at The Beeches Care Home, Brentwood, whose kindness and specialist care have been exemplary. Cherished husband of Beryl, much loved Dad of Philip, Helen, Alison & James, dearly loved by his eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, as well as nephews and nieces plus extended family in Australia, a special friend to many. John will be sadly missed and remembered by all his family and many friends in the local community and elsewhere. John was a well known local businessman and the proprietor of Guthrie Motors Ltd in Shenfield for many years. Also a previous member of the Rotary Club of Shenfield & Hutton and a lifelong member of the Hutton & Weald Masonic Lodges. John and Beryl enjoyed trips to Cornwall along with many holiday cruises together and travelled the world extensively in later life. A private funeral service will be held to celebrate John's life at Bentley Crematorium on 22nd April at 1.30pm. Sadly, attendance is by invitation only due to current restrictions, but a webcast will be made available to enable remote viewing.
