Such a lovely man!
He and Mary were loyal members of the bilingual group and their presence was always appreciated.
I vividly remember playing the vegetable guessing game
John described the vegetable as red.
After many attempts we gave up and John revealed the answer - carrot!
We had a good laugh about that.
Condolences to all the family.

Sincere condolences to all John's family..I remember him as big strong handsome man..he played in the same team as my brother Frank when they were just boys.Haydn Rovers was the team, and Mr Birch was the manager...secondly, I remember him letting me on the footplate of a great steam engine in Lime St Station, showing me how he fired the engine which in 20
minutes or so he would be stoking all the way to London,it was hard work, but he still played his beloved sport at the weekend, for the love of the game.rest in peace big man,I know you will be up there with the best of them..
