BernardHAKENMr Bernard George Haken, of Hereford Close, Accrington, died on Monday, November 22, aged 66. Bernard worked at Accrington Brick Yard (Nori Bricks) for most of his working life, as a production operative, before taking early retirement due to ill health. Bernard was a keen angler. He also enjoyed playing snooker, darts, and dominoes. He played football for Poplar United, Whinney Hill, and Sydney Street Club. He was both a supporter and helping assistant at Huncoat United Junior Football Club, but most of all he was a lifelong supporter of Liverpool Football Club, and all attending his funeral are asked to wear red for the service. Bernard was the much loved partner of Maggie Pettit, devoted father of Jackie, Christopher, and the late Karen, father-in-law of Angela and Simon, precious grandad of Lauren and Benjamin. Bernard was also a dear brother to Liz, Mary, Ray, Terry, Teresa, and the late John. He was the dearest son of his late parents Dorothy and Jack Haken. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 7, at 1pm at Accrington Crematorium Chapel, with Celebrant David Ireland.
