John 'Rufus'HALLHexham (formerly of Ovingham), on 6th October 2020, aged 93 years. Loved husband of his cherished wife, the late Helen. Adored Dad of Lindsay, with Paul. Proud father of Jonathan, with Ruth. Granda of Monique and Danielle. Rufus wanted to thank his family and clan for their affection and his friends for their company. He also wanted to thank all of those who attended his annual 'Birthday Bashes' since his 90th, as he regarded these as great days and warm-ups for his final send-off. There will be a private funeral at West Road Crematorium. When circumstances allow, there will be a Memorial Birthday Bash to celebrate his life. Such a large character leaves a vast hole in the lives of those that love him; we all celebrate his life and cherish his memory.

Uncle Rufus, I have known you all my life and although many of those years we were not in the same country, you for some reason understood me and where appropriate you were proud of me.
I am proud of you, you were a wonderful man full of life, even in some challenging moments.
You are now just your wonderful soul.
Enjoy and we will meet again soon.
Thank you,
Robbie

It was always a pleasure meeting enthusiastic knowledgeable Happy Rufus and chatting about many topics. I am sure that Rugby and his time as a player in Tyndale Rugby Club was his favourite.
I was delighted to be at Rufus’s 90th Birthday lunch/ to experience his warm welcoming smiling hospitality to all his guests and the reciprocal response was a treat in itself.
I sympathise with Lindsay and all relations.
Best Wishes,
Feidlim Mac Loughlin
