I worked for Kerry and Theresa on their Private yacht Amalthea of Sark a lovely classic Jongert 22ds with Richard (Captain) and Josie McGowen (Chef) from 1993-1994 at the age of 18 .. Sailing between Maine - Nova Scotia - Caribbean -Venezuela .
I always loved Kerry as he was Salt of the earth. Would happily drop $10k in St Barths on dinner or just Wine. Life of the party that's when his true self came out.I often reflect and have such warm memories of these times. The fact I was welcomed as a teenager by The Hamers and Richard is very Humbling. I didn't know you for long Kerry and Theresa but you both made a lasting memory and mark on my life for which I'm forever grateful

I knew Kerry in the early 60s.
My memory was triggered by a recent auction notice for a Jaguar Mk9. In those early days, Kerry's partner Vic had a 2-tone claret Mk9 whilst Kerry had a pale blue XK140 COUPE.
They were clearly destined to be successful young men.
My contribution to their success was to serve them coffee or cola at the Aztec in the Strand in Cheltenham with bossTony Ayland (MG TF 1500 and original Lotus7) manning the till).
What fun we had!
Best wishes for the onward journey Kerry.

Oh me, had a Morris Z Post Office van!

I met Kerry in the Maldives - we were both on holiday - he with his lovely wife, Theresa and their children; we exchanged details - later my then girlfriend and I were invited to their beautiful home, got very drunk and stayed over and had breakfast. Kerry was a man like me - relishing life and all that it could give whilst retaining a sense of humility. He welcomed me into his life and I will never forget his generosity. I’m afraid I did not keep in touch because my own girlfriend became seriously ill with mental health issues over 6 years. Kerry told me of his illness that first morning over breakfast. It hurt me to know that because I really liked him so much. He had fought his way up like me. I lost my father this year so I can understand some of the pain. I hope you are soaring amongst the stars in the universe Kerry and wish you peace and your family the same. Much love. Paul Camp

Kerry had said he wished to have his ashes scattered in the grounds of Westhurst, so family and close friends gathered, on the second anniversary of his funeral to remember and toast him. we all then spread his ashes among the roses and flowers he loved.A fitting and heart warming memory to a joyous soul .
