So many fond memories with Michael (never ‘Mike’!) on the tennis court, at the village show - where he always ran the tennis club bookstall (can never keep a good librarian down), and especially up at the allotments in Cherry Burton where we’d put the world to rights, get updates on the doings of his family, and the latest adventures in Michael’s life. An erudite, intelligent and thoughtful man with an enduring twinkle in his eye, a warm gruffness and famed belligerence. I will miss him as he walks past my plot to do some digging on Sarah’s with a half turn continuing: “…and another thing…” - and you’d be on your way to another half hour of entertaining conversation. Warm condolences to all Michael’s family. Andy Day.

Mchael, what a character I had the pleasure of working with you. You used to terrify me with your big words and fancy chat, then I got to know you. I’ll remember you with fond memories. I can’t listen to Robert Palmers Addicted to Love without thoughts of you and a chuckle to myself. Such a lovely crazy man who I’m sure will be sorely missed. Deepest condolences to your family. Rest peacefully Michael love Michaela xxx

Michael, one of those rare people who had a natural charm, warmth & friendliness. His wit and that dry sense of fun will be very much missed at the Cricket Society meetings.
RIP Sir in the knowledge that you certainly made a difference at all our meetings, in a kindly way! Cricket lovely cricket.
