BertHARRISJ.P. M.B.E. Retired Headteacher of Crocketts Lane and Parkside Junior Schools in Smethwick (1959-1989), Chairman of Newton Village Hall Management Committee (2010-2020), Past President of the Rotary Clubs of Mumbles and Smethwick, former Chair of Governors of Waun Wen Primary School, Magistrate on both Swansea and Warley Benches as well as a member of many other clubs, organisations and associations. Bert died peacefully at home following a short illness on 29th May 2021, aged 93 years. Dearly loved husband for 64 years of Elinor, proud and loving Dad and Grandad to Nichola and Alex, much loved father-in-law to Giles, great friend to Jo, loving brother to his seven siblings and their families. Bert will be hugely missed by his family and many many friends. The cortège will leave his family home at 12.50pm on Friday 25th June 2021 for a private funeral by invitation only at All Saints Church, Oystermouth at 1.15pm prior to interment at Oystermouth Cemetery at 2.15pm. Family flowers only but donations in memory of Bert gratefully received for 'Mumbles First Responders Team' may be made online at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/bertharris or sent c/o Worcestershire FA, County Sports Ground, Claines Lane, Worcester WR3 7SS (Cheques payable to 'Mumbles First Responders Team Charity'). I was so sorry and saddened to see that Bert had passed away. He was a true friend and a great Rotarian. Mumbles Rotary Club will miss him greatly. Paul Wilkins (Morriston Rotary Club).
