When I saw her photograph, I immediately remembered her. There was something about her face and her warm, friendly expression that brought back memories of meeting her through the hairdressing world in Exeter.
I remember her working in a shop in Exeter High Street, where she was covering for someone. At the time, I had been trying to find somewhere to have my hair cut, as most of the hairdressers in Heavitree were fully booked. I also remembered that my sister used to have her hair cut by her, and my mum had a hair stylist in Heavitree who looked very much like her.
There was also a section in Heavitree where a lady had her own salon, and looking back, I believe I must have met her in one of those two places. When I saw her photograph, I recognised her almost immediately.
She was a very pleasant, friendly and professional lady. She had a lovely personality and had a way of making you feel comfortable and welcome. I remember asking her name, and I remember that her second name was Harry.
She cut my hair on a regular basis, and we would talk about different things, including the show I was involved in, Matthew Miller. Those conversations are memories that have stayed with me.
Looking at her photograph brought all of this back. Sometimes a photograph can say so much about a person's character, and hers seemed to show the warmth and friendliness that I remember so clearly.
I feel privileged to have crossed paths with her and to have known her, even through those everyday moments of having my hair cut and sharing a conversation.
She was a kind, professional and welcoming person, and she will be remembered fondly by those whose lives she touched.
May she rest in peace, and may her memory live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
