BryanHARTLEYMR Bryan Hartley, of Walton Close, Bacup, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 8, age 86, with his family by his side. A service will be held at 10.45am on Monday, January 25 at Burnley Crematorium. Born in Newbiggin-bythe-Sea where he lived for the first 21 years of his life, he started work as an electrician down the pit, and then he lived in Canada for a short time, before finally settling in the valley. He worked at Hoyle’s Electrical and then for Rossendale Council as head of the street lighting department, and this is where he retired from after more than 25 years. Brian was a Freemason for over 50 years and worshipful master twice for the Samaritans Lodge, Bacup. He was an avid gardener, loved growing his own vegetables, watching all the birds and feeding his fish. He was a member of Rossendale Valley Anglers and in later life enjoyed cooking, and reading Harry Potter with his grandchildren. Bryan married his beloved Anne on July 16, 1960 and is now reunited with her forever. He leaves his children Andrew and partner Julie, Stephen and wife Lisa, Chris, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Brian and wife Janet, nephews and nieces, and many friends. He will be dearly missed. We request family flowers only with donations if desired in memory of Bryan to Rossendale Hospice. Due to Covid restrictions numbers allowed in the Crematorium Chapel are limited. Regrettably, therefore, the service will be for family only. Funeral director: Paul Swarbrick for Knight & Boys Funeral Service, Stacksteads, Bacup
