TerenceHEAPMR Terence Heap of Broadley Street, Rawtenstall, died at home on Tuesday, April 7, aged 91. He was born in Rossendale on July 2, 1934 and lived in the valley all his life. Terence started working from a very young age at George and Richard Barnes's farm in Whitewell Bottom. At 18 he did his national service in the Royal Engineers corp, where he learned how to drive HGVs. He progressed to become a driving instructor whilst there. On completing his national service he worked for various companies driving Heavy goods vehicles at John Heaton Coal Merchants, Peils Haulage, Harry Hargreaves and FRH Builders. In 1967 he moved to Hill End Farm in Helmshore and farmed there for the next 30 years. During this time he built his own family home in Rawtenstall. His passion in life was for animals and farming. Terence leaves his wife Joan Heap, his children the late Kenneth, Roy, Sandra, Julie, the late Jacqueline and Craig, his much-loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. He was a truly family man and he will be sadly missed by all.
