Sadly, I have just learned of John’s passing. I worked with him at The Royal Armouries, Leeds, for about 7 months and quickly realised what a great resource he was for the work I was involved in. His wisdom and experience was a great asset to my work.
He wrote me a very touching letter when I left and we exchanged occasional e mails over the years. Of my many memories from my short time at the Royal Armouries, John’s company is up there with the treasured ones and I join you in bidding a sad farewell to a precision engineer and a quietly modest, highly talented man.
