PeterHEWETTPeter Hewett, born in Camberwell in 1951, grew up in Harlow, where he lived until he emigrated to Canada with his family in 1993. Peter sadly passed away in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, on July 29, 2026.
Peter was a dedicated member of the Harlow Shotokan Karate Club, where he achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt.
He shared this achievement with his late brother, Chris Hewett, who was also a 1st Dan Black Belt.
Peter's commitment, discipline, and passion for karate were an important part of his life.
Peter was also a talented and passionate musician. Over the years, he performed in various bands alongside his lifelong friend John Hayes, most recently playing with the band Hemlock, touring around Essex playing covers, before moving to Canada.
Music brought Peter great joy and created many lasting friendships throughout his life and he continued to sing on various choirs in Canada.
During his working years in Harlow, Peter worked at Longmans and British Telecom, where he formed many valued friendships and was fondly remembered by those who knew him.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Hewett (née Cooper). He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his two sons, Simon (Laura) and Daniel (Kelly), his 4 grandchildren, Hannah, Louise, Penny and Marshall, his loving partner Josephine Masters, along with his extended family and many friends.
A service will be held in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, with a further memorial service to be held in Harlow at a later date.
The entire family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the love, kindness, and support shown during this difficult time.
