AnneHEWITT(nee McNeil) Anne of Cross Street, Clayton-le-Moors passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on August 12, aged 78 years. Dearly loved mum to Nina and Joe, cherished nana to Aiden and Grace, dear sister to Rodney and the late Betty and Trevor also a much loved aunt and special friend. Anne was born in Loftus, Yorkshire, she moved over to Lancashire when she was 18-months old. Anne left school at the age of 15 and went on to work at OXO in Great Harwood. Anne then made the decision to move to Coventry, where she met her husband Ian, before finally settling in Clayton-le-Moors. Family life started for Anne with the arrival of Nina and Joe. Anne was the most doting mother she made sure her children always had everything they needed. Anne put her family before herself and this continued when she was blessed with two grandchildren Aiden and Grace. Anne loved spending time taking care of her grandchildren whilst Nina was at work. Many happy memories were made. Family holidays were looked forward to spending time together at Butlins in Skegness, trips to Morecambe and days spent at Edisford Bridge. In later life she enjoyed her girly holidays to Blackpool, with her sister Betty and her friends. In her spare time Anne loved to read especially if it involved a murder mystery and she watched many crime dramas on TV. She loved her garden and was always there to supervise the upkeep of it. Anne was a devoted family lady who will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. Anne’s funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, August 25 at 2.20pm.
