Robert WilliamHICKSONIt is with much sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Hickson announces his death at age 73 following a long period of illness. Bob died on 16/5/2022 at home in Rushden Northamptonshire, where he had lived for over 40 years. The 3rd Son of the late Albert & Evelyn and brother of Geoff, John and David, Bob lived & worked in Crewe (including a long period with the Crosville Bus Company) until 1981 when he moved south to join Weatherbys in Wellingborough; he worked there until his retirement in November 2020. Bob met his 'life partner' Frances whilst working at Weatherbys and they were together for over 30 years before Frances' death in November 2017. In his youth Bob was a keen angler and footballer & through life pursued a range of sporting activities including Badminton and Golf, as well as Table Tennis which he continued to play until 2022. Robert was a gentleman with a gentle soul as all who knew him will testify. If you have a happy memory of Bob take a moment to reflect on it. Donations in memory of Bob to the British Heart Foundation. Private family arrangements have been made in respect of a funeral and memorial.

Bob was a great member of the Team, but beyond IT, we had some great chuckles over the trials and tribulations of his beloved Crewe Alexandra and the ups and downs of my team, Wolves. Every year we had a fiver on the fantasy football, and Bob took immense delight in "Agueroooo" getting booked after scoring that goal, and us having to split the fiver. Great times Bob, never to be forgotten. RIP

I must have played table tennis with Bob for 20 odd years. I only kept going because I enjoyed his company and his great sense of humour. A genuine nice guy.

Bob has been a member of Wanderers for many years and will be greatly missed. He was a lovely guy and it has been a pleasure to know him. I speak for all our club members when I say R.I.P Bob you were taken far too early.

Worked with Bob for 35 years at Weatherbys, and also played table tennis, such a nice man and so sorry for your loss
