Miss Hill, as we who were taught by her knew her, was a brilliant teacher who taught me at Alderman Newton's Girls' Grammar School in Leicester from 1958 to 1963. She was much respected as she went quietly about in her white Lab coat. I was a shy girl with no confidence but her straightforward teaching and interest both in the subject and also in her girls doing well enabled me to pass my 'O' level with a first grade. I loved genetics and still have a copy of a book she recommended to us and that I then bought at age 15! I'm sure I am not the only 'old girl' in who's thoughts she will live on with fond memories.
