Hilary ClareHILLARD(née Hughes) (1937-2023) With great sadness, we announce Clare's peaceful passing on November 30th at the age of 86 after a brief illness. Clare was born in Liverpool, Merseyside, where she graduated from Highfield School for Girls, took secretarial training, began her working life at Broadgreen Hospital, and later worked for the Liverpool City Council. In 1962, she married her true love, Ian. They moved to Edinburgh, where Clare was a valued employee at the Water Board and the Fire Service, and where their precious daughter Sally was born. In 2015, Clare and Ian fulfilled their longtime wish to live permanently in North Wales. Clare was known for her grace, strength of character, sense of humour, amazing memory, and engaging storytelling. She was predeceased by her daughter Sally Reid, her son-in-law Sandy Reid, her husband Ian Hillard, her sister Marion Glazebrook, and her brother Ken Hughes. Lovingly remembered, she will be missed by so many, among them her friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and family friend Graham Fowell, to whom we are so grateful for the help he provided Clare over the years.
Funeral service at 11am on Saturday January 6th at the Denbighshire Memorial Park and Crematorium, Glascoed Road, St. Asaph. Reception to follow at Bod Erw Bar and Restaurant, St. Asaph.
No flowers, please, but, if you so desire, donations welcome in Clare's name to the National Trust, or the National Trust of Scotland (a separate entity), or a charity of your choice.
