SinghHIMMATIt is with great sadness that Mrs Inder Kaur and family announce the passing of Mr Himmat Singh on the 22 January 2021. It is for his dynamic spirit that most people will remember him. He navigated his life in a pioneering and enterprising manner and was always optimistic, regardless of circumstances. The vigour and determination with which he fought motor neurone disease reflected the way he lived his life. In the wider community of Derby, Mr Singh was perhaps best known as the founder of The Shimla Club. In its time this venue was uniquely inclusive. From the tributes paid, the camaraderie of The Shimla, still remains in the narrative of Normanton to this day. His success lead him to pursue his charitable ventures, including funding eye clinics in rural India, to treat those most in need. He will be remembered for his smile and laughter which never failed to light up the space around him. Above all Mr Himmat Singh was truly and proudly an embodiment of his name - courage, resolve and the stoic bearing of pain through adversity - he was the epitome of the word Himmat. Due to Covid 19, the funeral will be attended by immediate family only. For thoughts and prayers, the ceremony will take place at 11.20am on the 12 February 2021. The Bola Family
