John WalterHIRST
Peacefully passed away on 13th April 2026 in Llandovery Hospital.
After nearly 50 years living happily in Llandovery, John was known as a gentleman by all and will be much missed by his family, friends, neighbours and community. Loving father to Joanna and David, and grandfather to Jesse, he retired from many happy years farming Gwarllwyn at Pentretygwyn in 1999. He also had a lifelong passion for flying and had been a pilot in the RAF, BOAC and BA, flying everything from Tiger Moths to Concorde over a long and successful career in the air, 1951-1986. The photo is of his last flight captaining Concorde, London to New York, 1986.
There will be a private cremation followed by a small gathering of close family and friends in celebration of his life.
No flowers please, but donations in lieu to Llandovery Hospital League of Friends, if wished, would be much appreciated to support the wonderful work of all the staff who cared for him in his last days
