I remember meeting several crew members of the HMS Sheffield in early 1982 when our ships were visiting Mombasa Kenya. I was stationed on the USS Constellation (CV-64) at that time. Several of my shipmates and I met crew members from the Sheffield at the Rainbow Bar, where we proceeded to "sample" the local beer - Tusker Lager. I met some fine men that day, shared some great "sea stories" and learned a few new drinking songs. I was devastated to learn the news of the Sheffield just a few short months later. To the friends and families of the crew of the Sheffield, this American sailor will never forget the brave men of the HMS Sheffield.
