The obituary notice of David Ian HODGSON

My memory of Ian Hodson is I was his closest friend and companion for the last ten years of his life which were the hardest ten years for him. Prior to this I knew him when I met him as a musician in 1980 when I played guitar in a local big band ochestra type thing.
I saw him struggle for ten years and he told me about all of his friends from his better years. He still had his sense of humour and could talk to anyone with no biases. Even when he was very ill with his condition he managed to have the odd relationship with a woman and his life was full of amusing events till the very end. He had a serious side and he would open up and tell me things about his life and how things could have turned out if he had not ended up being divorced and living alone. Mr Hodgson. Deepest sympathies from one of your (many) students. I am now a drummer in a band full time, just as I always dreamed, and all because of you !.
I will never forget the way you played, and your smile.
