MaureenHOLDENwidow of John Lewis Holden, died peacefully aged 90 years at Highfield Hall Care Home, Grane Road, Haslingden
on Friday, October 2 in the company of her children John Lewis Holden (Skip) and Jeannette Parker.
She is also survived by John's partner Jean and Jeannette's husband Martin; grandchildren Jack, Sam and Lucy;
great-grandson Robert; step-granddaughter Nikki and step-granddaughters Gabbi and Eden in Australia.
Maureen qualified as a nursery nurse in 1954 and had a long career in childcare, working at local nurseries and schools, including Cribden House in Rawtenstall, St Mary's in Bacup and formerly at Belmont School in Rawtenstall, where she enthusiastically drove the school's Variety Club Sunshine Coach for outings and residential holidays
around the country. For many years Maureen was a keen member of Rossendale Amateur Operatic Society,
most memorably as Laurey, the female lead in their 1975 production of Oklahoma.
Maureen's life revolved around her family and a large and varied collection of friends, young and old,
who she stayed in touch with over many years. Maureen was born in Haslingden Grane and remained fondly attached to the area all her life. It seems only fitting that she died only a few yards from where she was born.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Maureen's funeral will be at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, October 16, 2.20pm.
Family flowers only, donations in Maureen's memory are welcomed for Alzheimer's Society.
