HOLLIE GILLTributes have been paid to teenager Hollie Gill who died on 10 March, 2008, after being crushed under a cement lorry in Derby city centre.Miss Gill, 18, died in hospital after the incident on a pedestrian crossing in Osmaston Road.She was with her boyfriend of 13 months, 18-year-old Thomas Reece – also known as TJ – at the time.Tributes poured in on the Derby Evening Telegraph's website, including one from Mr Reece's sister.Hayley Reece wrote: "I miss you so much Hollie. TJ just isn't the same without you. I hate to see my brother in so much pain as he loved you so much but now you are not in pain any more."It was a horrible accident and it won't be the same without you. Miss you babe, love Hayley and Kaitlyn."Speaking to the Evening Telegraph, Miss Gill’s closest friends described the former pupil of West Park School in Spondon, as irreplaceable.Katie Thrower, 17, of Alvaston, said: "It hasn't sunk in yet that we have lost someone so special. When I was told that she was gone I just couldn't believe it and to be honest, I still can't."I've been remembering all the laughs we had, like hanging about the park in the summer and just having a good time. I'm devastated we won't be able to do any of that with Hollie."After finishing her studies at West Park, Miss Gill enrolled on a painting and decorating course at Derby College. Her friends said she left the course after a fortnight, having decided it was not the career for her.Yvonne Holmes, 16, of Spondon, went to school and college with Miss Gill.She said: "I knew Hollie for five years and we shared everything. We were best friends. She was the life and soul of everything we used to do and she made me laugh so much."I was gobsmacked when I found out what happened. It hit me and all of our other mates very hard. We're just drained at the moment. We can't believe what has happened."Another website comment, posted under the names of Kirsty and Leanne, said: "Rest in peace babe, it has hit a lot of people."You were a part of so many people's lives. Your mum is trying to stay strong for your sister but is hurt so much. All of our love, Kirsty and Leanne."Another, from Kim, read: "Hollie was in my year at school. It's such a shame to be losing so many people we know and who we spent six years with."It's shocking to know somebody and for something so bad happen to them. We all know Hollie lived her life to the full. Rest in peace chick."Police said Miss Gill had been crossing Osmaston Road with Mr Reece when the accident happened at about 1.30pm.He was clipped by a car and Miss Gill was then in collision with a cement mixing lorry travelling in the opposite direction, ending up underneath it. Mr Reece suffered minor leg injuries.A police spokeswoman said the drivers of the car and cement lorry had been spoken to but no charges had been brought.
