I'm extremely honoured to have been responsible for keeping Roger looking as sharp as possible, over the past 6 years. 💇

I'll miss our streams of conversation of intellect and nonsense and everything in between.

Roger's death came as such a shock but it brought back many fond memories of a man I knew first when he came to Trent as a PhD student and then through the various phases of his career during some of which we worked closely together. We shared common interests in music and football and enjoyed (I enjoyed them anyway) many happy conversations talking about these weighty matters. Roger’s opinions (and he was never short of an opinion!) on anything from criminal justice or trends in education to football tactics or psychedelic rock were always interesting and some of his rants were deeply entertaining. He didn’t take himself too seriously, had an infectious laugh, was a very supportive colleague and I’m very glad to have known him.

I didn't know Roger personally, only through Kristan, but from that I'm sure I would have enjoyed a conversation with him. And anyway, he liked cats so that's good enough for me! I hope with time his family and especially his sons, will find solace in their memories of him and in the tributes left by those who knew him
