So heartbroken to learn of Amanda's passing. I was a student of hers in my first year at Warwick in 2013, studying Epic Literature and Medieval Rennaisance modules, neither of which I was particularly avid about. However, Amanda's passion for the topics filled me with interest, and although I never got particularly good grades I worked really hard. Amanda saw this and was always lovely and encouraging to her students. In the next two years of my degree at Warwick, she was the ONLY tutor from that first year who would stop me when we saw each other in the hall and ask how I was doing. I loved our random catchups, she was a loving, beautiful person who really inspired me, even if my academic interests went off in different directions. We stayed in communication on Facebook (she added me!) after my graduation. She wasn't just a great academic; she was full of life and joy, and passed that on to students that, unlike other professors, she genuinely cared about in terms of our wellbeing as well as academic progress. None of this feels right, for the world to have lost such a wonderful person. I think about her often, and hope that, if there is something out there, she's sat with a good stack of books and records and an acoustic guitar at the ready to create something beautiful.
