Philip Michael JanesHOSKINSPhilip died peacefully on 25th September aged 97. Dearly loved husband to Patricia, father to Nicola and Clare, grandfather to Toby, Lucy, Amy and Victoria and great-grandfather to Nellie and Ottilie. Proudly born and bred in Bristol and a staunch City supporter all of his life. He attended South Bristol Central School and Cotham Secondary School. He began his working life at the Port of Bristol Authority which led to a lifelong interest in shipping. He married Patricia in 1954, and they very recently celebrated their 70th Anniversary together. After the birth of their 2 daughters in Bristol a move to East Grinstead followed where Philip became involved with local councils and other organisations. They later lived in Winchester and latterly in the Alton area. Many return trips were made to Bristol to visit family and friends usually incorporating a visit to Avonmouth to see what shipping may be about and also to watch the occasional City match. He always maintained a great fondness for the place of his birth. He was a lovely gentleman who had a full life well lived. He will be sorely missed. Cremation on Friday 1st November at Basingstoke Crematorium RG25 2BA at 11.45 for close family, followed by a Remembrance Service at St Nicholas's Church, Chawton GU34 1SJ at 14.00. Donations to RNLI c/o philiphoskins.muchloved.com if desired.
