Shirley AlmaHOWARD(nee Gibson) On Jan 3, 2012 at University Hospital of Wales following prolonged illness, Shirley aged 75 years passed away; loving wife to Neville, mother of Gary, Wayne, Dawn, Terry, Linda, Fay, Mark and Lorraine and grand-mother to twelve. She will be deeply missed by us all. Her kind, generous nature and love of stories will never be forgotten. A local heroine. Shirley saved five year old Luigi Variaes from drowning in Cardiff's West Dock in 1958 whilst expecting her fifth child. The funeral service will take place on Monday Jan 16 at Roath Court Chapel of Rest at 12.45pm, followed by comittal at Thornhill Crematorium, Wenallt Chapel. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, should be sent to Mrs Linda Wood c/o James Summers & Son, Roath Court, Newport Rd, Cardiff CF24 1XP and will be shared between Ty Hafan, offering comfort, care and support for life-limited children and The Sickle Cell Society.
