Anthony NevilleHOWSONAnthony Neville Howson, Tony, died on July 16th 2026, following a short stay at City Hospital, Nottingham. He leaves to mourn, his wife Julie and his children from his first marriage Lucy and Ash and his two grandchildren, Lola and Leo. Also, Julie's daughters, Hayley and Joanne and their five children. Tony is survived by his brother Michael, his nephew Dominic, niece Gabriella and her daughter Evie. Tony also leaves his two cousins, Guy and Simon, their wives Monica and Natalyia and their children Emily, Olivia, Bea, Katy, Lily, Martha and Edie. Tony leaves his three Canadian half-sisters, Vivienne, Vicky and Vanessa and far too many friends to mention.

Tony moved to Nottingham in 1982 and joined the Forest Practice, Mary Potter, Hyson Green as a GP. It was one of Tony's ambitions to become a doctor and he embraced the role with compassion, kindness and where appropriate fun. Tony retired as a GP in 2006, following an illness. During retirement Tony got involved in social clowning and travelled to many places with Patch Adams and like-minded people, their aim was to bring kindness and joy to others less fortunate. Tony loved to have fun and share a joke. He was very musical and was passionate about Barbershop singing, with the Major Oak Chorus. Tony gave everything of himself and asked for nothing in return. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Tony's Funeral service will take place on Monday 17th August at 2:30pm at Gedling Crematorium, Catfoot lane, Lambley, NG4 4QH

Tony was a wonderful work colleague who made every day more fun and never moaned about anything. He was the patients’ favourite doctor by far. Sometimes he would end his consultations with a cheeky “tell me a joke!”

I remember Dr Howson as a child. He was my GP and always very friendly. At Aspley, he had an intercom system to call patients through and used to sing their names, I remember him singing mine. RIP.

Beautiful words. My sister and I would resonate on 'Tony gave everything of himself and asked for nothing in return'. I look forward to sharing memories of him though we met him only a few times. My heart goes out to my cousin Julie and Tony's family and friends, with love xxxx
