OwenHUGHES(Marske-by-the-Sea) Owen Hughes 10/07/1935 - 05/02/2021 Peacefully in hospital on 5th February following a short illness, Owen of Marske-by-the-sea, much-loved darling husband of Diane, cherished dad of Shelly and Chas, treasured father-in-law of Gary, and precious grandad and pops of Abi, Evie and Daisy, sailed his last journey. A true gentleman, dear family member and valued friend, Owen touched the lives of so many people and will be very sorely missed. Known through his involvement over the years with local football, boxing and playing Santa for the children of the local nursery, he always carried a pocket full of sweets to treat anyone he spoke to. Many will also remember Owen from ICI, Grangetown, South Bank and Bankfields/Eston. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have sent cards, flowers and messages of support so far, which shows just how much Owen was loved. Special thanks to the staff of Ward 9, James Cook University Hospital, for their kindness and empathy. A celebration of Owen's life will take place at St Mark's Church Marske on Thursday 25th February at 11.15am, followed by private committal at Kirkleatham Crematorium. We understand that many people would like to pay their respects but due to current restrictions, invitations to church will be given privately and there will be immediate family flowers only.
