KarenHUGHESof Oswaldtwistle, more recently Findhorn Morayshire, died peacefully aged 50 after a long illness in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on April 23. Karen attended Mount Carmel High School in Accrington, going on to do a business course at college. She spent her career in numerous roles but mainly as a call handler for Lancashire Police. As a mature student she achieved a degree in environmental science at Newcastle University, which led her to her dream job of organic market gardener, running her own business which she adored until ill health forced her to give up her dream. She leaves her dad John, mum Anne and late sister Joanne, uncle Denis, aunty Lynda, aunty Lynda, uncle Brian, Uncle Alan, aunty Gina, cousins Gary, Ian, Katie, Roy, Julie, Julie and John, all nieces and nephews and numerous friends in Oswaldtwistle and in Scotland. Requiem Mass will be take place on Wednesday, May 31 at St Mary’s RC Church, Oswaldtwistle at 1.30pm, followed by a committal at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please but donations may be made to Lymphoma Action UK c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington. All further enquiries tel 01254 233133.
