ChristineIBBOTSONShortly before midnight on 23rd September 2021 Christine aged 64 passed away peacefully after a short illness in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Christine was the eldest daughter of Derek Ibbotson and Madeline Barrington, stepdaughter to Jonah Barrington. She was the best friend and older sister to Georgina, Nicky, Mark, Mandy, Nicholas, Joey and Joanna, treated like a daughter by beloved (aunty) Sue Gough. She gained a place at Oxford but chose Aston University which provided her with amazing lifelong friends. She achieved a BSc (Honours) and became a member of Mensa. She worked for BT as Head of Marketing in London choosing to retire at 50 and move back to Huddersfield, she was loved by everyone who met her and leaves us bereft. Christine didn't like funerals, she wanted us to celebrate her life with family and friends at a later date at her apartment. No flowers or donations, instead open a bottle of Champagne and raise a glass in her memory. All enquiries to The Gables Funeral Service Marsh. Tel 01484 424235.

To my wonderful sister Christine, I will miss your cheery messages and all of the new emojis that you find and send to me here in the USA. I will miss our very interesting and inspiring conversations. You were one of my biggest cheerleaders, and you were my sounding board. You have been taken away from me far too soon, we had so much planned for next year. I will miss you big sis. Lots and lots of love from your little sis Joanna Dee xxxxx

You were my sister, my best friend, almost like twins but 10 years apart. We were each others port in a storm. We loved movies so we named it "consigliere". I am lost in the dark without you as my light. Love Georgie xx
