PeterISHERWOODMr Peter Isherwood, aged 85, of Westcliffe, Great Harwood, formerly of Park Crescent, Bullough Park, Accrington, passed away peacefully in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, November 24. He was the dearly loved husband of Jean, father to Gillian, Graham and Helen (partner of Graham) grandad to Ellen, Tessa and Alexina. Peter was born in Ramsbottom but grew up and lived in Accrington. On leaving school he did his apprenticeship as a joiner at Pilkington Bros in Church. He then spent three years in Cyprus after being called up for National Service in the RAF. On his return, he went back to work at Pilkington Bros, where he eventually took charge of the company. That is when he made the decision to set up in business himself, where he continued to work until his retirement. He was a keen member of the Globe Bowling and Billiard Club, where he was in the Bowling Team and Snooker Team, which he enjoyed immensely. He was also involved in the running of the club as a member of the committee, and later became the President of the Club, enjoying many a social event. He always wanted to build his own home and eventually built two family homes, which he was very proud of, and the second house was built with the help of his son Graham. Holidays for many years were spent in the form of caravanning. Later in life he travelled all around the world with many a tour in America, Canada and many other places. He also enjoyed a cruise; Tenerife was a favourite for 20 plus years, making many new friends. Peter will be sadly missed by all his loving family and will be fondly remembered by friends and all who knew him. His funeral service will take place at 1.40pm on Thursday, December 9, at Accrington Crematorium. Donations to the National Heart Foundation and Cancer Research.
