Derek ran and probably founded the Blacon hand bell ringers travelling around the city doing concerts and raising money for charity. The 'bells' used to be kept at Bishop's High School in Chester and I used remember my almost weekly Friday afternoon chats with him there as I was a violin teacher there throughout the 90's and onwards. A great bloke who will be missed. Never found him in a bad mood. Always happy, positive and wanting to do the best he could for people!
