JASON BRANTFather-of-two Jason Brant collapsed and died as he visited his teenage children on 7 July, 2008.
Mr Brant, 38, of Thurnby Lodge, Leicester, was killed by a brain haemorrhage after a blood clot formed on his lung. He fell ill while visiting son, Shane, 16, and daughter Mollie-Mae, 14, at the home of his ex-partner.
He was rushed to Leicester Royal Infirmary, but his family said he was brain dead before he reached the hospital.
His father Tony, sister Kim Fowkes, and long-term partner Keeley Moore, paid tribute to a man with a "heart of gold".
They said Jason, the youngest son in a family of 14 children, had loved the outdoors, with fishing and boating among his top hobbies.
Mrs Fowkes said: "He was loved by everyone. He was always so happy to help anyone. If anyone needed anything done, he would be there to help."
Mr Brant said: "He used to pop in every morning to see me and get me whatever I needed. He was a rogue at times but he had a heart as big as a bucket, a heart of gold.
"All of his brothers are in the roofing trade, and he would be too, but six or seven years ago he fell off a stepladder and damaged his right hand, disabling it. But he never complained. He just kept doing what he wanted."
Jason Brant was also survived by about 90 nieces and nephews.
