JAY BENNETTJay Bennett, who died on 24 May, 2009, aged 45, was guitarist and keyboard player with the American alternative band Wilco.He joined the band shortly after they released their début album in 1994 having previously been a member of Titanic Love Affair.His arrival into Wilco helped them expand their sound, utilising his multi-instrumental skills and a creative, experimental streak that became one of the band's hallmarks.He left in 2001 during the making of the seminal album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (2002) and went onto a solo career, releasing five albums.He lived in Urbana, Illinois where he worked in a private studio.Friend and musician Edward Burch confirmed his shock death saying: “Early this morning, Jay died in his sleep and an autopsy is being performed. The family is in mourning and is unavailable for comment at this time."
