I worked with Colin at Newcastle CAT for several years in the mid 1980s. He was deputy head of department and law lecturer there. Unlike many teachers, Colin was very open, very honest and hard working. While others would cross the street to avoid me if they thought I wanted a lift to Sunderland, Colin happily opened the passenger door to let me in!
Those, relatively few, journeys were always entertaining as Colin had an endless stream of stories and observations. He also had a keen sense of humour ... viz, that photo of Colin in a newspaper hat!
I can't remember how we connected again but we did and last time we exchanged words was as he was jetting off to Australia.
A good egg and I was happy to see that Colin had a good, long life. Best wishes to his family and friends.
